With the support of like-minded adventurers in The Mine community, we will make sense of our personalized data, craft a plan for action, and hold each other accountable.
Why do women need this?
Self-awareness has been coined “the meta-skill of the 21st century.”
Research shows that when you are self-aware, you have stronger relationships, are better at managing (and being managed), run more successful businesses, and are happier and more satisfied with your life. Historically, self-awareness has been an individual pursuit: we’ve been on our own to discover our deepest values and our value, why we do things, what we love. But, contrary to expectation, research shows that the more we introspect the less self knowledge we have!
Sense of self is actually an incredibly complex construct—a triangulation of how we see ourselves, how others see us, and who we aspire to be.
FEEDBACK IS A CRUCIAL COMPONENT OF SELF-AWARENESS
Understood this way, we realize that it is impossible to achieve self awareness, or to close the gap between who we are and who we want to be, without deep insight—feedback— from the people around us. And while useful, actionable, unbiased feedback is a rarity across the board, research shows that “women receive harsher feedback, more personality feedback, and less constructive or actionable feedback than their male counterparts. This has been true even when the women are top performers.”
Put simply: although women are more likely to pursue self awareness, they are at a significant disadvantage when it comes to getting and making use of the inputs required to fully realize their highest purpose and impact. The Mine exists to change that—to give women agency to make self awareness their superpower.

Rae and Mara met over 15 years ago, when they worked together creating audio and multimedia guides for museums and cultural institutions. They have gone from guiding museum visitors to guiding ambitious humans through the process of building self awareness by leveraging the perspectives of their colleagues and community.
Their groundbreaking, AI-driven platform, Loupe, has made waves in the future-of-work space for offering a unique vision for how we learn about who we are and where we can go, connecting us deeply to others in the process. Based on the latest feedback research and technological tools, their development methodology has been featured on panels and podcasts, at conferences, and in various online publications.

why is it called the mine?
We are all like precious gemstones, each one unique and extraordinary.
Our feedback platform, "Loupe," is named after the specialized lens used by gemologists to examine the finely-cut facets of these rare stones. "The Mine" is the place where these gems are collected, and the challenging but rewarding process of delving into that place to discover the full depth of your own self knowledge.

The Mine is different, but complementary to coaching. In this group coaching environment, women share their experiences--challenges, tactics, successes-- to help gain perspective, ideate, problem solve, and celebrate. If you are working with a coach, use of Loupe will help orient your efforts in coaching, your coaching will give you additional support as you navigate the feedback process, and you'll be able to measure your progress in both!
Both The Mine and coaching provide greater clarity and accountability. -
